From Cazimi to Phasis: Venus in Capricorn’s Journey to Visibility 2022

Jan 19, 2022 | Ichrak

Venus and the Moon in Capricorn. Redondo Beach, CA. November 2021.

On Tuesday, January 18, Venus became visible in the sky as morning star after a period of invisibility. If you are out sky-watching for Venus, know the exact date might change by a day or two on either side depending on atmospheric conditions & where you are in the world. She will herald the sun’s rising in the east in the pre-dawn light.

As Venus re-emerges from a period of invisibility, she sends a powerful message. She has just been through a journey through the underworld, or, put in other terms, a place that is other than the usual frame of consciousness; a place that could transform her.

When Venus emerges through the earth from under the ground, she is different. She is now a morning star, rising above the sun during sunrise. She has made her unlikely emergence from the dark and mystical lair of the underworld, and she is cloaked in the wisdom and self-connection that has tempered and liberated her.

So as Venus goes through this process, you too may have experienced a transition, a deepening of inner connection and an honoring of your inner truth. You may have been on an inward attunement that has transformed your perspective on a situation or your approach to it. As Venus makes her re-emergence, a new awareness or point of view might also be emerging in you.

Venus continues her retrograde movement until January 29 when she stations direct at 11 degrees Capricorn. But there is more life-smithing that Venus is doing, because soon she will begin a new cycle with Mars. More about that in a future post.

After Venus goes direct, she will remain in Capricorn through early March, making one last fly-by conjunction with Pluto. This conjunction is different than the previous two, because the other two were very close together and occurred during Venus’ station. This really amplified the intense, emotional, obsessive quality of Pluto, and deepened the Venus effect of re-working relationships or cohesion & connection (both Venus significators) in the Capricorn part of the chart.

Track this cycle in your chart by pinpointing 11-25 degrees Capricorn in your chart. This would also be relevant for you if you have many planets in Libra, Taurus or have these signs on the ascendant.
