May 17 – May 18: Mars conjunct Neptune at 24°– 25° Pisces

Mars is in mutable Pisces, which can pre-dispose the planet of action to scattering its focus. This can be amplified by passing over the ethereal fog of Neptune, which casts an imaginative, idealistic, or further scattering ray upon this typically determined planet. This is a beautiful aspect for moving forward in creative or spiritual pursuits, but you might want to examine if you are too easily getting distracted. If you’re like me and can easily veer off into one of the browser tabs you have open, or succumb to the social media scroll, it can be helpful to write what you’re focusing on a piece of a paper and referring to it when you notice that you’ve gotten off track.

May 19: Mercury retrograde in Gemini sextile Jupiter in Aries at 1°

There are two interesting points about this one.  First, the Moon will have just entered Aquarius at the time this aspect is perfecting. The Moon’s presence makes this aspect more likely to present itself in day to day life in our material circumstances. It also ties in the themes of the Aquarius, Gemini, and Aries houses of the birth chart. The second interesting point is that Mercury went retrograde about 12 hours before Jupiter entered Aries back on May 10, so these events were almost simultaneous, joining them symbolically . This is a chance for them to link up and share what their joint message is, since there seems to be a synchrony there. This aspect is about a positive message or line of thought, a perspective or communication that ties things together, or an opportunity to improve something by approaching it from a different angle.

May 20: Sun in Taurus trine Pluto in Capricorn at 28°

Sun in Taurus trine Pluto in Capricorn – This aspect happens between two powerful earth signs, bringing material, financial, and physical matters into focus. This aspect can help us more easily make a long-wanted change, leverage significant resources, find generosity from relevant powerful institutions, or work existing power dynamics in a situation in a beneficial way.  As a somewhat slower aspect, it colors the tone of the week and can help us access confidence and strength to make a change , as well as connection to the earth to synchronize us with its natural rhythms.

May 20 – Sun enters Gemini

Socializing, connection with topics of human affairs or humanity, creativity and imagination are all highlighted as the Sun enters Gemini. The atmosphere lightens when the Sun moves from an earth sign to an air sign. We may feel like connecting more with the people around us, refreshing and deepening our social bonds.

May 21 – Mercury Cazimi – Sun conjunct Mercury at 0° Gemini

Mercury Cazimi –  Mercury enters the heart of the Sun to be purified and begin its cycle anew on this day. Symbolically, this is like Mercury entering the throne room of the Queen. Mercury has the Queen’s ear and is able to voice the concerns closest to its heart.  It also is uplifted and empowered by its proximity to such a powerful figure. In our lives this can show up as an epiphany, a sudden realization, a positive communication, support from a powerful figure, or a turning point in a situation that has been under reconstruction for some time.

May 22 – Mercury retrograde enters Taurus

Communications may turn to re-evaluating resources or resource allocation, physical or material concerns, the value or worth of something, or Venusian topics like beauty, connection, and presentation

May 22 – Mars in Pisces sextile Pluto in Capricorn at 28°

Mars in gentle Pisces sextile focused and determined Pluto in Capricorn allows us to tap into a sense of confident determination that does not dominate or steamroll, but nevertheless subtly demonstrates its power as it aligns people, will-power, resources, and strength to accomplish a task or make progress on an endeavor.

May 23 – Sun in Gemini sextile Jupiter in Aries at 2°

This aspect weaves really nicely into the gentle Mars Pluto aspect above. Jupiter in Aries is a placement of buoyant self-belief and confidence. Further, when Jupiter is in Aries, it is in the exaltation sign of the Sun. So, there is a friendliness, affability, and willingness to work together that comes through with this aspect. Generosity is more easily dispensed, and self-belief and confidence is more easily accessed. Jupiter also rules over topics of “the higher mind” – spirituality, higher education, intuitive knowing – as well as foreign people, places, and travel. This is a wonderful aspect for seeking a “yes”, connecting with people, and dreaming a higher vision for yourself, loved ones, special projects, and the future!

Wishing you a wonderful week!
