The procession of the months / the verses by Beatrice Crane ; the designs by Walter Crane.

March 1 – Mercury conjunct Saturn in Aquarius

The mind can do deep and sustained thinking here, but this aspect also speaks to a limiting or even negative or critical aspect in speech. Mercury gives voice to the Saturn story of Saturn in Aquarius so far.

March 2 – New Moon at 12 degrees Pisces

A gorgeous and powerful new moon that stands in great contrast to February’s lunar cycle. This new moon joins Jupiter and initiates a cycle of expanse and growth – either internally or externally! It’s definitely a new moon to set intentions and start something you want to see grow and succeed. It’s a great day to ask for support or support someone else. This new moon can speak to spiritual depth, material growth, increased possibility and opportunity, connection with nature, and exploring the emotional, or creative realms.

The magical and the mythical effuse from this new moon. It’s a new moon of imagination and beauty. This is a great new moon to exercise magic! Let me illustrate this with a contrast – Capricorn energy (also present right now) is all about the direct goal and the steps to achieve the goal directly. You need to refresh your supply of cucumbers, you go to the store and buy some. Pisces energy is about doing the visualization, imagining yourself having the thing, asking for help from the benevolent unseen forces, doing the meditation, – then – going out and taking the direct steps to achieve the goal.  Obviously not for something as simple as getting cucumbers (for most of us reading this, bless those who are in food deserts), but you get what I’m saying!

It does also pack a diverse energetic push, as at the moment of the new moon, Venus and Mars are exactly conjoined Pluto at 27 degrees Capricorn. So the seed contains many different layers that all unfold over the upcoming lunar cycle. They have to do with asserting the will to transform or to make something happen on the material plane. Luckily, Venus influence stops Mars and Pluto’s more challenging aspects from having full reign. The emphasis on Capricorn and Mercury conjoined with Saturn at the time of the new moon can provide a good balance and restraint, maturity and planning for any tendency to get carried away that might otherwise be there in the flowing waters of Pisces.

March 2 – Mars conjunct Pluto at 27 degrees Capricorn

This is an aspect about powerful deep inner drives and motivations. It can have to do with material change in life, or a motivation to act stemming from considerations of one’s status. A great push is possible to accomplish something, or initiate the process toward accomplishing something (as Mars in Capricorn is steady and indefatigable, but not necessarily swift) on this day and the days leading up to and surrounding. There may be helpful forces nearby. Caution of this aspect is watch for those who are self serving or manipulative. Caution against power struggles with low ego types. And avoid dangerous areas.

March 4 – Jupiter Cazimi  Sun conjunct Jupiter at 14 degrees Pisces.

Jupiter’s rebirth! Jupiter is ‘wondrous strong’! (16th cent. astrologer William Lilly) Make a wish.

March 5 – Mars and Venus enter Aquarius together within the same hour

March 12 – Sun conjunct Neptune at 22 degrees

Neptune is a planet with many faces. The Sun sheds light on Neptune as it moves over it. This can be a moment of magic, connecting with the powers in planets and in nature, with herbal medicines, and all old and intuitive ways of living coursing through the liquid memories deep in our genes and DNA, and sacred places on Earth. Be aware of getting lost in fantasies and illusions, or too carried away with substances…. Even… caffeine! Or anything escapist.

March 19 – Venus square Uranus 12 degrees

The act of relating over the demand to do things in a different, new, unusual, or innovative way. The feminine aspect may need space to do things differently. This aspect is about freedom, forging your own way and not necessarily sticking to tradition, especially when it comes to relating to others or to creative self expression. Check the houses of your chart this aspect falls in! There is an element here of making an adjustment to suit a situation that requires compromise.

March 22 – Mars square Uranus 12 degrees

This aspect could very easily be about a rogue individual or a rogue approach to a situation that may be stuck in fixed ways of doing things. This is about someone or some situation that does not want to be contained to tradition. If you can allow for flexibility for yourself and for others in your life this day and leading up to it, that would open up more possibilities for the energy to flow through and avoid a needlessly frustrating situation. This is a “you zig, I zag, we’ll meet up later, and we will all end happy” kind of day. As with all squares, compromise will be necessary!

March 28 – Venus conjunct Saturn (with Moon nearby)

I note that the moon is nearby because when it is, situations typically play out on the material realm. This aspect is about quality. It can be quality in self-perception, quality in an item or quality in relationship. Venus conjunct Saturn is about the substance of relationship. This aspect can be challenging or present a test to relationships that are not established. On this day, affection may not exactly be forthcoming. People may need to be alone to work, to think, or to devote to their craft. Sometimes Venus and Saturn work well together – for example giving the steadiness and concentration and actual skill to accomplish a creative task. Sometimes they can be more challenging together – leading to self-criticism, self-doubt, and other downward spiral emotions. This is a passing aspect that is really about asking questions of how well we’re tending to the things that matter in a particular situation. Take note and move on 🙂
