New Moon Solar Eclipse at 9 degrees Virgo 21 minutes. September 1st, 2016, 5:03 am EDT.

A solar eclipse is a super charged New Moon. Eclipses typically come in pairs two weeks apart, and that time frame is usually referred to as Eclipse Season. This is a semi-extended period of time when our personal worlds, inner and outer, are in flux.

Solar eclipses may precipitate changes, and for some those changes can be drastic, especially if the eclipse contacts an important planet or point in the birth chart. These changes may show up immediately, or in the months and years to come.

While some people respond to change with open arms for others uncertainty can thrum up the desire to flee or throw up defenses. This is especially the case with as much emphasis as there currently is in the sign of Virgo. Virgo appreciates certainty, clarity, and objectivity.

With Neptune playing a not insignificant role in the story of this eclipse, uncertainty is wrapped around the storyline of this new moon. Saturn and Mars are vividly a part of the eclipse pattern too – meaning moving forward in earnest within the existing structures of life goes on even within the time and reality warp of a potent eclipse season.

Deviation from routine is to be expected during this new moon eclipse cycle. However, many planets in nervy, cerebral, attentive Virgo means making an effort to enforce one’s routine provides grounding at this time.

Mercury, the ruler of this eclipse is in its home sign of Virgo and while retrograde is also in great shape. This is a wonderful time for drawing in wisdom. Messages can be transmitted directly to the mind in the heart now. The bigger picture is there for the knowing. If on the other hand logic, clarity, and reason are more your taste – now is an excellent time for those too – but don’t expect for all the information needed to be available immediately. Mercury is not playing by its typical rules but is strong in Virgo. There is kind of a funnel that ends at the mind that is delivering a higher logic at the time of this eclipse, that requires walking at the pace of the heavens to act wisely.
