Scorpio, along with the other two water signs of the zodiac, is particularly skilled at perceiving subtle unspoken nuances. The Full Moon in Scorpio is on May 3rd at 11:42pm EDT, so from now the Scorpio edge is seeping into the atmosphere like a slow, dense, intoxicating fog, making us do Scorpio things and feel Scorpio feelings. The build up to the full moon has a spectrum of expression, depending on how comfortable we are observing our own hidden processes, and how often we do this, and what we do with what is found. Emotions could swing wildly from pole to emotional pole as we wonder who it is that’s out to get us, or we could skillfully guide ourselves through measured transformation with a surgeon’s precision.

The truth of Scorpio, in its association with Pluto, is the kind that is pure and raw, free from morality or value charge, truth that is removed from any sense of goodness or badness, or any concocted quality of holiness invoked as protection from traveling to ground zero of the point of pain. As now is a particularly fertile time for projecting unprocessed patterns and past life experiences onto the present day, it is a good practice to set aside time to have some moments of serenity, introspection, and healing.

If you do look under your own hood, I’d recommend turn the dial to “on” on your capacities for compassion, kindness, and forgiveness. Make a ritual of it. Get some flowers, get out the aromatherapy to let yourself know that it is safe to inquire within.

This Full Moon will be square Jupiter. The potential to exaggerate powerful emotions will be there, but so to will the ability to witness them in the full light of the Sun and Moon. Mercury will be strong in Gemini, the sign of its rulership. Intelligent handling of what emerges is possible if the quality of awareness is actively cultivated, signified by Mercury’s separating opposition to Saturn at the time of the Full Moon.

And one more thing. Scorpio is a sign that has loyalty coursing through its exoskeleton, the marrow in the strong bones supporting its wings, or the fire disintegrating it to ashes, as the case may be. Scorpio knows the value of established partnership. Getting to the point where a partnership is maintained over time, instead of burned to crumbly crisp requires actively practicing trust and forgiveness. Forgiveness means letting go. Letting go is the ultimate liberation. Something that would serve Scorpio well remember : )

Friendship is a mirror to presence and a testament to forgiveness. Friendship not only helps us see ourselves through another’s eyes, but can be sustained over the years only with someone who has repeatedly forgiven us for our trespasses as we must find it in ourselves to forgive them in turn. A friend knows our difficulties and shadows and remains in sight, a companion to our vulnerabilities more than our triumphs, when we are under the strange illusion we do not need them. An undercurrent of real friendship is a blessing exactly because its elemental form is rediscovered again and again through understanding and mercy. All friendships of any length are based on a continued, mutual forgiveness. Without tolerance and mercy all friendships die.
